Days of Sirens and Birds

A week ago there was a siren for Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance day. Today, just thirty minutes ago, there was a siren for Yom HaZikharon, Memorial day; it is a day to remember all who have fallen and are still falling in Israel's wars. The sirens sound for 2 minutes and are heard by everyone in the country. Most stand.
Tomorrow is Yom HaAtsmaut, Independence Day, commemorating Israel's statehood in 1948. The day is also known as al-Naqba (the catastrophe) by many.

And the birds? May 10th is International Migratory Bird Day, for which there is no siren but it is certainly worthy of observation! (binoculars, anyone?)

Yes, it is a sad week in Israel, sad and complex. Let us rejoice that there are birds.
